It is fairly common knowledge that there is a lot of scrap metal up for grabs throughout South Africa, particularly in the following cities; Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban. This is not the sole extent of locations where you can find scrap metal, it’s fairly common all over the place, however these are towns that have a lot of mining going on. Scrap metal yards will accept a lot of different types of materials and will generally reward you with a fairly large sum of money for recycling it. Some forms of scrap metal will sell for a lot more than others, the most valuable forms are copper, lead and aluminium. Some of the rarer types of metal, such as precious metals like gold and silver sell for a lot, but as you already know these are substantially more difficult to have simply lying around in your home. If you are keen on making a significant amount of money for recycling your scrap copper or scrap aluminium then you should plan ahead and have a price in mind before you go to a dealer.
